Understanding audit logs
Audit logs record every significant action in your workspace — who did what, when, and what changed.
Accessing audit logs
- Go to Settings → Audit Logs
- You'll see a chronological list of all actions
What's logged
| Action type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Account | Created, updated, deleted WhatsApp accounts |
| User | Created, deactivated, role changed |
| Template | Created, edited, deleted |
| Campaign | Created, started, paused, cancelled |
| Contact | Created, updated, deleted, merged |
| Settings | Role changed, team modified, webhook updated |
| Auth | Login, logout, password changed, SSO login |
Log entry details
Each entry shows:
- Timestamp — When the action happened
- User — Who performed the action
- Action — What was done (created, updated, deleted)
- Resource — What was affected (account, contact, template)
- Changes — Before/after values (for updates)
Filtering logs
Filter by:
- Date range — Last 7 days, 30 days, custom
- User — Actions by a specific team member
- Action type — Only creates, only deletes, etc.
- Resource — Only account changes, only contact changes
Use cases
Security monitoring
- Detect unauthorized access (unusual login times/locations)
- Track who changed sensitive settings
- Monitor API key creation/revocation
Compliance
- Prove who deleted a contact (GDPR requests)
- Track template changes for approval records
- Document access control changes
Troubleshooting
- "Who changed this setting?" — Check audit logs
- "When was this contact deleted?" — Filter by resource
- "Why did the campaign stop?" — Check for pause/cancel actions
Retention
Audit logs are retained for 90 days. After that, they're automatically purged.
Tips
- Check weekly — Spot unusual activity early
- Review after incidents — Audit logs tell the full story
- Use for onboarding — Show new admins what actions look like
- Export if needed — Download logs for compliance records
