How to Prepare Contact Lists for WhatsApp Cloud API Broadcasts

1. Use International E.164 Format

Meta requires every recipient number to include its country dialing code (e.g., 919876543210 for India) without spaces, parentheses, or hyphens.

2. Strip Trunk Leading Zeros

Numbers exported from local billing software often start with a trunk 0 (like 09876543210). Stripping the leading zero before adding the country code prevents delivery failures.

3. Deduplicate Before Sending

Removing duplicate phone entries ensures a customer never receives the same promotional broadcast twiceโ€”saving you Meta messaging fees and preventing spam complaints.

Frequently Asked Questions

Meta WhatsApp Cloud API requires all recipient phone numbers to be in international E.164 format: country code followed by subscriber number, with no spaces, dashes, brackets, or leading zeros (for example, 919876543210 for India or 14155552671 for the US).
Your data is 100% private. All phone number cleaning, deduplication, and CSV formatting happen entirely inside your web browser using client-side JavaScript. Zero phone numbers or contacts are ever transmitted to any server.
Select your default country code above (e.g., +91 for India). Our tool automatically strips leading zeros (like 09876543210) and prepends the selected country code so every valid 10-digit local number becomes ready for WhatsApp broadcasting.
