Sending text messages

The most basic and common way to communicate with customers on WhatsApp.

How to send a text message

  1. Open a conversation in the Chat section
  2. Click the message input field at the bottom
  3. Type your message
  4. Press Enter or click the Send button

Requirements

  • The conversation must be within the 24-hour window (customer messaged you within the last 24 hours)
  • If outside the window, you must use a template message instead

Text formatting

WhatsApp supports basic formatting:

FormatSyntaxResult
Bold*text*text
Italic_text_text
Strikethrough~text~text
Monospace`text`text

Emojis

Click the 😊 emoji icon in the message input to browse and insert emojis. You can also type emoji shortcodes or use your system emoji picker.

Multi-line messages

Press Shift + Enter to add a new line without sending the message.

Message limits

  • Maximum 4,096 characters per text message
  • No limit on number of messages per conversation (within the window)

Tips

  1. Keep it concise — Short messages get better responses
  2. Use formatting — Bold key information for readability
  3. Add emojis — Makes messages feel friendly and personal
  4. Break long messages — Send multiple short messages instead of one wall of text
  5. Proofread — Messages can't be edited after sending
